Women’s Ministry

wcgcolor2bWelcome to the Women’s ministry at Oregon Trail Church of God. We love getting together to have fun, whether we’re playing or working.

We meet monthly—sometimes it’s a business meeting to plan events for the future. Other times we meet for friendship and fellowship. Watch the church bulletin and this web page for specific details. Or grab one of the women in the church and find out what she knows. We hope you’ll join the fun, too.

Also watch the bulletin for a survey insert. We’d love to know how the Christian Women’s Connection can better server your needs and interests.

Here are upcoming events.

START READING NOW: Our next book club will gather in September, after the business meeting to discuss the novel,  As Sure as the Dawn by Francine Rivers. This book is the third book in the Mark of the Lion trilogy that takes place in the Roman Empire shortly after Jesus’ crucifixion. It can be purchased at most Christian book stores or on Amazon.com (new or used) and can be purchased individually or as a single book that includes the entire trilogy .

NEW BIBLE STUDY! We are presently studying the lessons we can learn from Jesus’ earthly mother Mary, following Carol Peterson’s study I am Mary. We begin our study at 9:00 am with fellowship to follow the study at 10:00—including exercise, ladies!

Also within the Women’s Ministry:

Yard Sale: We hold an indoor “yard” sale (usually spring and fall). Most items are priced at a quarter. Gather your goodies to donate or plan to attend and buy more. Details will follow as the time nears.

Samaritan’s Purse: a world-wide filling of shoe boxes that are sent to children around the world. Shoe boxes are gathered in November and December, but the fun of shopping and filling them can last all year.

Hope’s Door: We support this local shelter for abused women and children financially and in practical ways.

Feeding the Grieving: Providing food and time for fellowship for families after church funerals.

Adopt-a-Senior: our ministry of canned and boxed food for elderly folk in the community.

Feed My Sheep: our ministry of providing meals for families in need. Please contact the church office  if someone you know needs a meal or if you would like to provide one.

Women’s Retreat: Each spring women attend a weekend retreat off site for fellowship and inspiration. Stay tuned for details after the first of the year.

Dinners: The women coordinate various events throughout the year for fellowship with our congregation, including a Valentine’s Dinner, Thanksgiving Dinner and church-wide potlucks. The women also coordinate finger food and desserts for the Old Hymn Sing at our church and other occasions the Pastors might request.

Summer Fun: During the summer months we take a break from business but join together each month for fellowship and fun. Party Nights occur in June, July and August.

Linen Chest: Our women financially support the Linen Chest, a mission assistance through the Church of God. The Linen Chest provides linens, clothing, appliances, and college assistance for missionary families.

Change the World: Our women collect pocket change to help support the Church of God Christian Women Connection ministries, including SHINE, the church-wide Christ’s Birthday Offering that goes to mission outreach projects.
